The Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild is offering a figure-painting class scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 26 at Downtown Art Gallery 630, 630 Belanger St., downtown Houma. Following in a tradition of visual artist pairing with performance artist, such as Toulouse Lautrec's Moulin Rouge paintings and Edward Degas' ballerinas, the model will display movement and color while modeling ballroom gowns. MAX Charter School's 3rd Annual Race for Their Future 5K Walk/Run is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 12 at John L. Guidry Stadium on the Nicholls State University campus in Thibodaux. The race is a fundraiser to help raise money for school projects and materials, including technology software and hardware, library books, recreation equipment for students and professional development for teachers.
